About Me.

Since joining the Hillsborough Gallery Of Arts back in 2021, there’s one question I’ve heard the most. When did you start woodworking? My first response was, when I was about 10 years old making half pipes to skateboard on. Growing up in Nags Head NC, I spent a lot of time skateboarding and surfing. The skateboard ramp is where I created the curve that is naturally in the waves of the ocean. Then there’s the lines of a Carolina Flare sport fishing boat, that were all around me. I feel the environment in which I grew up in, is seen within many of my designs. I definitely enjoy incorporating some kind of curve, cantilever and working with positive and negative space. The transition of wood tones is something else that I feel brings life to my work.

In many ways my work has evolved since then however there are some things that remain.
